Ja braukšana pa pretējo ceļa pusi vēl nebija pietiekoši liels izaicinājums, tad darīt to, kad esi pamatīgi noguris un pāris stundas gulējis tiešām bija jautri. Papildus nogurumam un nepareizajai stūrei, protams, arī jāmēģina iedabūt auto pareizajā ātrumā un arī līnijā. Otrais vēljoprojām sagādā man problēmas. Interesantais fakts – ikdienā tas mums nesagādā problēmas, un principā ir automātisks… :)
Par laimi, pirmais pieturas punkts bija pāris kilometru attālumā no lidostas – aktīvās atpūtas veikals Decathlon. Bijām iepriekš dzirdējuši labus vārdus par to un gribējām paši savām acīm to redzēt. Mēs bijām pārsteigti. Tajā ir viss, kas nepieciešams aktīvajai atpūtai un sportam + cenas ir ļoti draudzīgas + viss, ko apskatījām derēja labāk nekā varētu iedomāties. Pēc tā rodas tikai jautājums, kāpēc mums Ziemeļamerikā nekā tāda nav?!
Galu galā nokļuvām arī līdz pirmās dienas galamērķis. Protams, miega trūkums par sevi lika manīt. Tomēr ņemot vērā, ka ieradāmies dienas pirmajā pusē, gulēt iet nedrīkstējām. Lai izmantotu laiku lietderīgi, tikai nolemts doties apskatīt pilsētu. Brauciens ar divstāvīgu autobusu bija jauks, neskatoties uz to, ka atceros tikai nelielas daļas no tā – cīņa ar miegu nav nekāda vieglā. :)
Pilsētas centrs, ka jau paredzēts ļoti Eiropeisks, toties pilns ar interesantiem tipiņiem. Kā piemēram tas čalis ar assassins creed kostīmu. Ielu mākslinieki papildināja mūsu atmiņas par šo pilsētu. Reizēm apstāties, paklausīties un tuvāk papētīt pilsētu mūzikas pavadījumā ir tiešām forši.
Pēc pirmās dienas ir pāris secinājumi, ko var izdarīt/apstiprināt. Pirmkārt – bāru (pubu) kultūra šeit tiešām ir spēcīga. Otrkārt, lieta par ko it kā jau zinājām, tomēr nebijām iedomājušies cik liela “problēma”” tā varētu būt ir Skotiešu angļu valoda. Tā ir ļoti specifiska un ir brīži, kad viegli nav it ne maz. :)

If driving first time on the wrong side of the road is not daring enough, then doing that after couple hours of sleep and with a car that has manual gearbox, sure made it more fun. Keeping the road position, speed and car in the right gear was quite challenging – those are the things that usually are done with not much thinking. :)
Thankfully first stop was short distance from Airport - outdoor recreation store Decathlon. We have heard good things about it. We were even more amazed when we checked it out. It has everything for outdoor recreation and sports + the prices are very reasonable + everything fits us well and doesn’t look like a bag. Why can’t we have stores like these in North America?
Eventually we did get to our final destination for the day. Of course that didn’t resolve lack of sleep problem. As we arrived early in the day, it also meant there was a fair amount of time until we would get to sleep. That also meant that we have time to explore downtown Glasgow. Ride to the downtown was nice, despite the fact that only remember small parts of it, as I was fighting with lack of sleep. :)
City center as expected is very European and full of interesting characters. Like the guy in assassins creed costume. Talented street musicians added another level and experience of city center.
There are couple more things that jump at you. First one we are aware of – pub culture is strong here. Second we were kind of aware of, but not sure how much of a “problem” that is going to be – Scottish English. Yes, it’s thick. Yes, we have a hard time understanding it. :)
